Why Belgians are less inclined to change jobs ?

Belgium has one of the lowest mobility rates in the world in the labour market, according to an international study.The reasons for this lack of activity can be explained by poor career opportunities, low salaries and difficulty in reconciling working and family life. Analysis.

A study carried out by the Randstad group on mobility in the labour market shows that only 9% of Belgian workers voluntarily changed employers in 2014.By way of comparison, this ratiorises to 14% at international level.

While voluntary mobility is highest in Russia (20% spontaneously changed employer in 2014), Hungary, India and Singapore (an average of18%), it is much lower in countries like Japan (6%), the Netherlands (8%), Italy, Spain and Belgium (9%).
